Congratulations to our Hip Hop Competition Team who was invited for the second year in a row to the National Platinum Performing Arts Dance Competition where they took a High Gold!

dance classes at the ROC use dance as a medium to glorify God and to demonstrate the message of salvation. During our recital and outreach performances, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be presented to audiences through the testimonies of the dancers and through dances designed to express glory and honor to the Lord. SonDance’s instructors have strong backgrounds in their respective areas of dance and deep desires to serve the Lord with their talents. Our dances will be choreographed to inspirational Christian music. A typical class will begin with prayer and then continue with technique and rehearsal.

Madame Christine Dill graduated from the Hartford Conservatory of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Dame Margarita Froman, Prima Ballerina with the renowned Bolshoi Ballet Company. Classical Ballet is Christine's passion; she has danced such roles as "The Doll Fairy”, "The Plain Princess”, "Little Red Cap” and the original Choreography from "The Dying Swan”, as taught to Anna Pavlova. She currently dances at the Konservatoriet directed by Lynn Penn Davidson and we joyfully welcome her back for her second year as an instructor at SonDance.

Joy Chase has been taking dance classes since she was 14! Joy graduated from Living Waters Christian School in 2009, and is currently pursuing her BA at York County Community College.  At the age of 13, Joy became a student leader at her church's youth group, and she continues to work there. Joy said, "To me, dance is such an awesome way to glorify God, and really speak a loud message! I’m excited to see what God has in store for SonDance this year!" We are thrilled to have Joy joining us for her third year teaching at SonDance, and we know that the SonDance students will benefit both from her dancing ability as well as her great love for the Lord.from

Annie Albert has been a talented gymnast and dancer for the past eight years. She is noted for her flexibility and expressive dancing style and she has been a member of many successful dancing competition teams. For the past four years, Annie has been the receptionist and personal assistant to Dr. Johnson at Goodhall Hospital. She has been married to Tyler, who is a phenomenal hip hop dancer, since 2010. Annie is the Worship Coordinator for Kid’s Church at Curtis Lake Church in Sanford. We are happy to welcome Annie to SonDance and will enjoy her beautiful gift of dance as well as her dedication to Jesus.

Brie Sampson has been dancing since she was five! Brie began dancing with Ballet New England at age 11 and, at age 12, entered their pre-professional program. At age 14, she joined their professional company and then at age 16, joined the Boston Ballet Summer program and Portland Ballet CORPS program. She was offered her first professional contract with the Portland Ballet shortly after graduation from high school. Working with producers and directors from New York, she is currently the choreographer for a new ballet called, "Jack and Jill.”  Brie is also training to become a ballroom dancing teacher. She enjoys ballroom because it teaches etiquette and demands respect and honor, two qualities she feels guys and girls today need to embrace. Her passion is to work with high school age students because during this confusing time of transition they need the confidence that Jesus and dance can give them. With great joy, we welcome Brie to SonDance this year and look forward to what the Lord will do through her.

Colleen Allen-Maynes took on a leadership role in the adult lyrical class last year and, this year, it is with great joy that we announce that she will be the lead instructor for that class. Colleen has been dancing for the past 7 years. Her interest in dance was not realized during childhood, but as an adult, Colleen has found a natural ability to move with grace and purpose. She is an occupational therapist specializing in hand and lymphedema therapy and her heart is to see people restored to full health. She and her husband, Scott, have two daughters, both of whom dance at SonDance, and they have been attending Messiah for over ten years. The adult class is blessed to have Colleen's graceful and caring leadership.

We are thrilled to have these teachers join the SonDance staff this year.
