Elders

The essential functions of the Elders shall be to support the Senior Pastor, provide direction, ensure doctrinal truth, provide discipleship, implement discipline for their ministry leaders and devote their lives to God. This shall include oversight of individual ministries as assigned or agreed upon as a group. Additional functions shall include leading services, as well as preaching, worship, receiving offerings, serving communion, visiting the sick and providing biblical guidance.

Elders:

Richard Connelly
  • Richard his BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Maine and currently pursuing his Masters in Pastoral Counseling.
  • He served in the Wells Police Department for over 30 years retiring last year after 11 years as Police Chief. Richard also served six years with State Drug Enforcement.
  • He accepted Christ in Jr. High School by watching Billy Graham on TV and started attending church regularly later in the 1980's.
  • Seeking a deeper, more biblical worship, he and his family started attending Messiah over 10 years ago where he is in the prayer group at Messiah, is a Mentor, and assists with Pastoral counseling as requested.
  • Married to Lillian, they have two children Matthew and Meghan.

Grace Littlefield

  • Grace is a long time Wells resident. She has her B.S. in Education and is currently a substitute teacher.
  • She writes a weekly column for Journal Tribune.
  • She was baptized at age 22. Grace has been attending Messiah since the Spring of 2000. She learned to understand God's mercy and forgiveness through Pastor's preaching.
  • Her ministry is to the seniors of the church as well as one of "filling in and helping out."
  • She is married to Gary and has one daughter, one son, 5 grandchildren, and 2 grandchildren.
  • Grace credits Messiah with having survived husband's death and getting through 9/11.

Mary Courtney

  • Mary has been a Wells resident for over 25 years. She has been a Registered Professional Nurse for 16 years. She is now working part time serving the elderly.
  • Accepted Christ many years ago and she has been at Messiah Christian Church for over 20 years.
  • Mary has served in many areas of ministry at Messiah: Deacon – 7 years Divorce Care Leader – 8 years presently serving in assimilation, greeting, communion, altar ministry, visitation, mentoring and helping in the Caregiving Ministry.
  • She has been an active participant in our ministry in Ireland and has heart to see the Irish come to Christ.
  • Mary is the mother of 3 and Grandmother of 8. Mary loves people and she loves this church. Many of our members remember Mary's warm welcome during their first visit to Messiah.

Eric Dagley

  • Eric worked for Delta Air Lines in the Information Technology Division in Boston for nearly 36 years, before retiring on 9/01/2008, after finishing building his new home in Wells. 
  • Accepted Christ and was baptized in 1989.
  • He has a heart for helping and serving others.
  • He founded and heads the MICAH Ministry, "Men In Christ Administering Help” and helps at the church wherever needed – Inside/Outside work, all computer work, heading up the Deacon’s group, etc.
  • Eric is happily married to Barbara for 29 years, has 3 daughters, all married, and 8 grandchildren.

Deacons:

The beginning of the formal office of Deacon and Deaconess can be traced to Acts 6. The problem in distribution of aid led to the appointment of Deacons in order to free the apostles from "waiting on tables". The primary responsibilities of the Deacon and Deaconess are as a servant leader. One who is willing to do what is necessary. This suggests that deacons performed a variety of services. They shall be in charge of the temporal matters of the church so that the Elders and Pastor can devote themselves to prayer, the Word and the oversight of the congregation.

Bonnie Adams
  • Bonnie lives in Sanford with her husband, Wayne, and works at Soleras Ltd. in Biddeford. She has 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Bonnie is known for her hospitality and serves the church in many capacities. She is always willing to do anything and everything she is capable of doing to help out.

Bev Bergeron

  • Bev lives in Dayton and has worked for Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 24 years. She has 1 daughter, 4 grandchildren, and a new great-granddaughter. Bev loves to cook and is an active member of our Caregiving and Divorce Care Team and a valued member of our church body!

Dan Boulger

  • Dan is from Vermont and has lived in Wells for 5 years. He works in Lawrence, MA as a Special Education teacher in a middle school classroom. Dan has a wife, Victoria and a daughter, Elizabeth. Within the church he serves as an usher and is involved in the mentoring program

Gary Littlefield

  • Gary was born and raised in Ogunquit and Wells and graduated from Wells High School. Following service in the Navy he returned to Maine to take over the family contracting and housing business, where he continues to work. Gary married Grace 5 years ago and began attending Messiah. He serves as an usher, works on building maintenance, the MICAH outreach ministry and also helps maintain the food pantry. Gary continues his spiritual growth in and with the church family. His favorite scripture is Psalm 23.
Steve Andrews
  • Steve is a Maine native and five children and 12 grandchildren. Steve has been serving the church for over 20 years. Steve's face is one you will not see very often because he spend most of this time in the sound booth. Steve loves technology and installs security systems for a living. He is invaluable to our church and is one of our most faithful and unassuming servants.
