Deacons:
The beginning of the formal office of Deacon and Deaconess can be
traced to Acts 6. The problem in distribution of aid led to the
appointment of Deacons in order to free the apostles from "waiting on
tables". The primary responsibilities of the Deacon and Deaconess are as
a servant leader. One who is willing to do what is necessary. This
suggests that deacons performed a variety of services. They shall be in
charge of the temporal matters of the church so that the Elders and
Pastor can devote themselves to prayer, the Word and the oversight of
the congregation.
